Browser support full matrix
IE5.5+ FF2 Saf1.3+ Op9.2+
Full None Full Full
Spec
Depr. Version
No N/A
width="width in pixels or percentage"

Example

The width attribute set to "300":

<marquee width="300">Latest News</marquee>

Description

The width attribute does exactly what you would expect it to - sets the width of the marquee element.

Without a width attribute, the marquee element behaves like a block-level element, taking up 100% of the containing element/window. If you apply a width, the marquee then behaves like an inline element.

Value

A number representing the width of the marquee in pixels or as a percentage.

Compatibility

IE5.5Full
6.0Full
7.0Full
Firefox1.0None
1.5None
2.0None
Safari1.3Full
2.0Full
3.0Full
Opera9.2Full

Generally well supported (IE, Safari, Opera) but Firefox ignores the width completely, rendering the marquee at 100% width.
