width (HTML attribute)
Example
The width
attribute set to "300":
<marquee width="300">Latest News</marquee>
Description
The width
attribute does exactly what you would expect it to - sets the width of the
marquee element.
Without a
width attribute, the marquee
element behaves like a block-level element, taking up 100% of the
containing element/window. If you apply a width,
the marquee then behaves like an inline element.
Value
A number representing the width of the marquee in pixels or as a percentage.
Compatibility
| IE | 5.5 | Full |
|---|---|---|
| 6.0 | Full | |
| 7.0 | Full | |
| Firefox | 1.0 | None |
| 1.5 | None | |
| 2.0 | None | |
| Safari | 1.3 | Full |
| 2.0 | Full | |
| 3.0 | Full | |
| Opera | 9.2 | Full |
Generally well
supported (IE, Safari, Opera) but Firefox ignores the
width completely, rendering the
marquee at 100% width.
