Syntax
Description
The
disabled attribute prevents the user from
interacting with the form control to which it’s applied. In this case, it
stops the user from clicking on the checkbox, or
tabbing to it with the keyboard, so the user can’t activate the
control.
The most likely use for this attribute is to disable a
checkbox until such a time as some other condition has
been met, at which point JavaScript would be required to remove the
"disabled" value, making the form control usable
again.
Example
Thedisabled
attribute stops this checkbox input from being
used:<form>
<input type="checkbox" name="chknewsletter" id="chknewsletter"
checked="checked" disabled="disabled"/>
<label for="chknewsletter">Send me the monthly newsletter</label>
</form>
Value
"disabled" is
only possible value for this attribute. If the input
should be enabled, simply omit the attribute entirely.
