link (HTML attribute)
Example
This markup sets unvisited links to
"navy":
<body link="navy">
Description
At some point in the distant
past, a decision was made that all hyperlinks on a web page should be
underlined and blue, while visited links
should be underlined and purple. For people with certain color perception
difficulties, it may be very hard to tell the difference between the
unvisited and visited links on a page. The link
attribute provides one mechanism for overriding that default link color,
allowing us to set one that may be more in keeping with the rest of the
web page or site design.
This attribute is deprecated, so you should
avoid using it. Instead, use CSS to set link colors, using a,
a:link {color:red;} instead.
Value
This attribute
takes a recognized color name (for
example, "blue" or "red") or
a value specified in hexadecimal notation (such as
"#003366"). Note that it’s not possible to use
shorthand hex values for the bgcolor in HTML as you
can in CSS (for example, you can’t express "#cceeff" as
"#cef").
