Syntax
Description
When
the user clicks on a link (or activates it by tabbing to it and then
selecting it with the Return or Enter key), the link color changes briefly
to show that the link has been activated; hence
alink is short for active link. In most cases, this
visual effect is displayed so briefly that it isn’t even noticed, as the
page on which the link was activated is replaced by the page that was
requested. However, this active state may be visible in designs that use
framesets (where the navigation
is located in one frame and the
content is loaded in another).
Example
This markup sets the active links to green:
<body alink="green"> ⋮ </body>
Value
This attribute
takes as its value a recognized color name (for example,
"blue" or "red"), or a value
specified in hexadecimal notation (such as "#003366").
Note that it’s not possible to use shorthand hexadecimal values
in HTML as you can in CSS—for example, you can’t express
"#cceeff" as
"#cef".
